GAIL GARCIA BIO 

Gail Garcia was born in New York, NY.

Educated at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, Gail is a life-long painter, focused on expressing her unique perspective on urban life. Her early career also includes creative director and designer in communication arts. For more than the past two decades she has focused exclusively on painting urban landscapes.

As a native New Yorker who loves her city, Gail’s work interprets and amplifies the emotions and energy of urban streetscapes that feel both familiar and unique to viewers and collectors. 

Using the raw beauty of everyday city life as inspiration Gail photographs the vitality and human experience she sees on the streets, prints the photos, then paints in layers and layers of color and texture, transforming the work into a cohesive and thought-provoking shared language. 

Her base materials include canvas, paper, and metal, painted with acrylic, acrylic markers, oil sticks, and oil paint sealed with UV varnish, and most pieces have a simple black frame. 

Mid-size canvas urban landscapes dominate the body of her work. This is complemented with a new series of figurative paper collage added to the landscape as well as various smaller works on paper.

Gail Garcia has exhibited in New York, Brooklyn, Boston, San Francisco, and Miami. Her work is in private collections around the world.
